Chicken Parmesan
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup olive oil for frying
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- Fresh basil for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
- Place flour in a shallow dish. Beat the eggs in a second shallow dish. Mix breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, garlic powder, dried oregano, and dried basil in a third shallow dish.
- Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Dredge each chicken breast first in flour, then in beaten eggs, and finally in the breadcrumb mixture.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken breasts and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Transfer browned chicken to a baking dish. Spoon marinara sauce over each chicken breast. Top with mozzarella cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven until the chicken is cooked through and the cheese is bubbly and golden, about 20-25 minutes.
- Garnish with fresh basil before serving, if desired.
