Spaghetti Bolognese

Ingredients

  • 400g spaghetti
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 500g ground beef
  • 800g canned diced tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef stock
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Freshly grated Parmesan cheese, to serve

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. While the pasta is cooking, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet. Cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 10 minutes.
  4. Stir in canned tomatoes, tomato paste, beef stock, oregano, and basil. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a simmer and let cook for about 20 minutes until the sauce has thickened.
  5. Toss the cooked spaghetti with the bolognese sauce. Serve topped with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
