Spaghetti Bolognese
Ingredients
- 400g spaghetti
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, crushed
- 500g ground beef
- 800g canned diced tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup beef stock
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Freshly grated Parmesan cheese, to serve
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- While the pasta is cooking, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add ground beef to the skillet. Cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 10 minutes.
- Stir in canned tomatoes, tomato paste, beef stock, oregano, and basil. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Bring to a simmer and let cook for about 20 minutes until the sauce has thickened.
- Toss the cooked spaghetti with the bolognese sauce. Serve topped with freshly grated Parmesan cheese.
